Kevin Gundlach’s passion for cooking began at a young age.

When Gundlach’s mother enrolled in evening college classes, Gundlach took the reins, regularly swapping his #2 pencil for sauce pans to prepare nourishing family favorites for his dad and brother. The newfound love of cooking stayed with him as he matured. Dinners turned into dinner parties, tailgates, and campouts.

When Gundlach relocated from Illinois to Steamboat Springs, CO, he started cooking for Riggio’s Italian Restaurant under Chef Dom Riggio. There, he excelled and fully committed to a career in culinary arts. In 2007, Gundlach took his talents to Seattle, where he worked with Chef Sito at Mashiko.

Kevin rapidly advanced from tempura cook to head chef. He later secured the role of head chef at Chow-To-Go when he returned to Elmhurst in 2010. Gundlach remained there for seven successful years before leaving to open his own dining establishment.

Gundlach now proudly serves as both the owner and head chef at Flavah, drawing on passion, innovation, and seasonality to offer fresh meals, salads, soups and creative adventures, such as Flavah Underground and Flavah Back Door.
